Irons and Blowtorches
Clothes irons have been around for many centuries. Flat irons made of a heavy piece of metal with a handle were popular a hundred years ago. Derivatives were box irons which held charcoal pieces to keep the iron warm. These gave way to liquid fuelled irons which lasted until electricity came along.
Blowtorches, known as blowlamps in the UK and Australia, were similar to early stoves but often with a nozzle pointing forwards or even vertically to heat items like furnaces and soldering irons.
